Ozone Therapy for Blood Flow, Immunity, and Longevity
What is Ozone Therapy?
Ozone is a gas (O3) that is used in many industries, but for our purposes, we will discuss the health aspect. It was first used back in 1871 in the medical industry. In 1896, Nichola Tesla patented the first ozone generator in the United States. In WW1, it was used to treat infected wounds. In the 1960s, ozone started to be scientifically studied. Today, we have many books, snd research papers on ozone therapy.
Benefits of Ozone
1. Improves microcirculation
Ozone therapy has been shown to improve microcirculation, which is important to feed every cell in your body and eliminate extra cellular waste. A lack of blood flow can cause inflammation, chronic disease, and lack of energy. We don’t want our blood to be thick and clumpy because it won’t be able to flow in to all parts of the body. There are a variety of ozone modalities that will oxygenate the blood.
2. Immune system
Ozone therapy has been proven to modulate the immune system. This means that the immune system is able to go up or down based on the current bodies demands. Ozone helps the immune system to defend against bacteria, viruses, and fungi; as well as killing them directly.
3. Longevity
Oxidative stress is the imbalance between free radicals and antioxidants. Think of oxidation as rusting metal, or aging your body. Free radicals require free electrons (antioxidants) in order to be neutralized. We need some free radicals for cell signaling, but too much causes oxidative stress. Ozone increases oxygen utilization by assisting your body to quench free radicals.
Different Types of Ozone Therapies
There are two different types of ozone therapies, systemic and local. Systemic means that it has an effect on the whole body, while local is just one part.
1. Rectal insufflation
2. Ear insufflation
3. Oral insufflation
4. Ozone sauna
5. Ozone limb bagging
6. Ozone water
