Prepping- The Lost Art of the Mind, Stoicism, and Prepping Tenets

The Lost Art of the Mind

In the prepping community, there seems to be a huge emphasis on protecting ourselves from others instead of collaborating. The reality is if we all had the mind to help others out in a crisis, a lot of the prepping information would be obsolete. I realize that’s not yet the world we live in, so we do indeed need that information, but should siamotainously work toward collaboration. Prepping is not mainly about hoarding stuff or hiding out. Prepping is actually about changing your life so that you can easily create the majority of things you need yourself, or find them locally, so you are not reliant to major corporations or governments that want to control you.

Train Your Mind

During a crisis, your going to want to be mentally prepared. Are you mentally resilient? Can you endure hardship? Start now by doing various practices and how you approach life in general. Doing things like meditation, exercise, fasting, nature,. heat, and cold therapy. Hormetic stressors like these will train your mind to endure hard things and have a resilient nervous system. Taking on a stoic approach and philosophy can be useful. Constantly learning and growing in certain areas will let you have a bigger impact.

Stand for freedom

Stand for freedom means to stand for whats real. You will not take orders from tyrants. Everything is birthed from freedom. The reality is that it can not be taken, they never gave it to us in the first place. Freedom is inherit in us, sure you can shut things down, but you can never take the true essence of freedom. We don’t play by the rules, we live by principle. Discipline equals freedom. Yes you can do whatever you want, but what are your results? If you want to be healthy, wealthy, or have great relationships; we must have the discipline to implement certain practices, habits, and mindset to get the results.

Prepping Tenets

Each one of these is going do be dependent on the amount of time your in a crisis, whether it’s 3 days, 3 weeks, or 3 months, so you may need to adjust accordingly.

Focus on your health-

Being healthy is critical in a crisis because you may need to do a lot of physical things and need to be of use. Also, you won’t have to rely on medication, which may not be available. Learning and applying sleep, nutrition, and exercise tactics will significantly help you. Chronic disease is purely lifestyle related, which means there’s something we can do about it.

Self defense-

Learning how to use a firearm in a crisis is important because it doesn’t matter what you have stockpiled if you can’t defend it. Basic fire arms training at your local gun range may be helpful. I would recommend a book called How to Shoot like a Navy S.E.A.L. by Chris Sajnog to teach the fundamentals of firearms.

Food-

When it comes to food, you should consider storage and production. Food storage was solved before we had electricity. Everything from canning, salting, dehydrating, and much more. There are a lot of resources on this. Storing up to one year of food is a great start. This will eventually run out though, then what? Learning to garden and raise livestock is a good idea. Having real, fresh food is always going to be better than stored food.

Water-

Where do you get your water, and how reliable is it? City water will fail if infrastructure falls apart. Storing water in things like water bricks is a great long term water solution. They stack on top of each other for easy storage. Having one gallon per person, per day. Having a well is great, but should know how to power it if it runs on electricity.

Location-

Your location when it comes to prepping is critical. If you live in a big city, it’s going to be a lot harder because there is more potential for things to go wrong. I realize it depends on the city and it’s a personal choice. You may also want to consider the political views of the state because the country is becoming increasingly divided. In addition, a focus on community is important. Living around like minded peppers could be a great advantage. Also, prep for your current terrain, and certain crisis that may take place in that region.

Community-

None of this really matters if you don’t have the power of community. It’s the thing that holds the rest of it together. A lot of people may change in a crisis because of desperation. It’s very important to know who you can trust. Develop a circle of savages who are about that life. People who you know are in it to the end. Next, your neighbors matter a lot. What is your relationship with them? Can you develop a synergistic relationship where you help each other out? You can not do this alone, you require community.
