Mold- Biofilm, Testing, and Detoxing

What is Mold?

Mold is a type of fungus that thrives on dead and decaying things. Mold secretes mycotoxins that are neurotoxic. If we have mold internally, it’s usually in the gut, or the nose.

What is Biofilm?

Biofilm is a mucus like fluid that bacteria create to protect themselves. If a biofilm is already present in the absence of mold, the mold could come in there and kill everything to make it its home. It does this through mycotoxins, which effect the rest of your body. Your immune system now has to fight mold on a consistent basis.

Testing For Mold

Testing mold in your body-

Urine test

Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) from Real Time labs is very sensitive and specific.

Mass spectrometry from Great Plains.

Mold in your home-

Environmental mold and mycotoxin assessment (EMMA) by Real Time labs. It tests for the 10 most common molds and determines its presence and abundance. It also tests for poisonous mycotoxins from the mold.

Detoxing From Mold

1. Bentonite clay

This is a clay that will stick to toxic substances in your body to pull them out. You don’t want to do this for too long because it may cause other symptoms.

2. Garlic

Garlic is great at killing the mycotoxins from the mold.

3. Activated charcoal

This is also another powerful binder for mold. You also don’t want to do this for very long because it can bind to minerals in your body.

4. Oregano

Oregano is a powerful antimicrobial, antiviral, antibacterial, and antiparasitic. It works really well for mold, but should be cycled because it’s very powerful.

5. Create a mold free internal environment. Mold thrives in warm, moist places. Sugar itself is great for creating that environment. Detoxing on a regular basis with things like intermittent fasting and green juices is a good idea.
