What Is A Podcast?

A Podcast is a means of communicating to your audience via audio. It is a great way to connect and tell your story. Podcasts are great because people can listen on the go, and tune in when ever they want. if you have an expertise in a certain area, and are willing to put in the work, you can make anything happen.

How To Start A Podcast

Mission

Your purpose and mission is most important and foundational when starting a podcast. This is because having a foundational understanding of why your doing this will give the podcast quality, and the ability to endure. Where is your expertise, what is your story, and who do you want to serve?

Endurance-

This is the ability to understand that you may not have the number one podcast right away, but you can get there. This refers to doing what is in alignment with your mission no matter how you feel. Some days you will be motivated, some days you will not. Discipline, and following principles are there no matter what. We don’t rise to the occasion, we fall to the level of our training.

Purpose-

How do we find it? Given that the foundation is growth and service, I would start by working on you. Find peace and clarity within. Overcome past traumas, limiting beliefs, and old patterns. Start becoming the greatest version of yourself. From that place, it will be much easier to know what direction your purpose is in because you got the foundation down.

Service-

You must have a heart of service. This can not just be about you. You must be consistant in your ability to want your audience to grow. Your audience will feel this, and know they are cared for, thus they will come back.

Build your unique structure-

What is the structure pf your podcast? What does the frequency, intro, outro, and question structure look like?

Consistency-

Make sure that you are consistant in putting episodes out. People are looking to you and your guests for advice, and it’s something they want to come back to again and again.

Connection-

You want to be very good at connecting to your guest. The foundational principle in this is to relax and listen. When we relax, we are able to follow the flow of the conversation, and the next question will come. Learning to listen and be still is key. When we become still, we can become wise because it is through the silence that we can be open and receptive to truth. Silence opens up new channels and pathways in our brain than if were always talking. Given our brains time to process and think activated the default mode network (DMN) in our brain, which is designed for problem solving. We are inundated with a plethora of information everyday. We have a ton of knowledge, but are starving for wisdom. Rarely do we stop, think, and process what we actually learned. There is a lack of deep thought and devotion to excellence. Be a light, not a shadow. Processing information and applying what we know leads to wisdom.

Gear

Microphone-

Microphones are very important for audio quality. Some are better than others of course. A great standard microphone is known as the ATR-2100x. This is very affordable and effective.

Computer-

Of course you need a computer for all the setup.

Audio softare-

This is where you go to record your podcast. There are many of these out there. A free and effective one that is commonly used is known as audacity.

Podcast directory-

There needs to be a place where you upload your podcasts, where is housed. This is also where it can be launched to other directories, such as Apple and Spotify.

A New Age Of Freedom-

Make sure that your podcast has a positive impact on the world. Every show has the potential to make a wave of change, creating a ripple affect. The quality of your podcast will be in direct proportion to your level of personal development. The more you develop yourself as a person in all areas, the more you will have to give. Information is out there, people will come because they want to listen to you. Understand that it is bigger than you as well. You are not just talking into a mic, you are talking to the world. What is Your message?
