Critical Thinking- Cognitive Fallacies, Questions, and Solutions
What Is Critical Thinking?
Critical thinking is about asking empowering questions toward a worthy ideal. It is about thinking for yourself and standing for what is real. It is about overcoming the blocks to truth within yourself, and finding a way forward.
Cognitive Fallacies
1. Fallacy of composition
This says of some parts of thing are bad, then all of it is. This is not true because you need to look at each part individually. Doing this will help you look at the bigger picture.
2. Fallacy of division
This says that of something is true for the whole, it must be true for all the parts. This is not true either because you have to examine each part individually.
3. Strawman fallacy
This is about when someone misrepresents your interpretation in an argument. This is designed to through someone off in an argument.
Questions
1. Questions are the answer
When we ask better questions, we get better answers. The quality of our life is determined by the quality of our questions. If were asking disempowering questions on a regular basis, then we can’t make our dreams a reality. We need to shift the question to that of empowerment to become the greatest version of ourselves.
2. Contemplate the mission
We must contemplate the mission, meaning think about you goals and dreams on a regular basis. What you focus on tends to expand. When you do this, it’s easier to see what the next action is. Pursue your dreams on a daily basis, and eventually you will get there.
3. Know your why
You must know you why and your values because this is how we filter the questions in the first place. Think about different actions and opportunities. Go as far as you can, then you can see even further. All you have to do is take the next step, don’t stop, the life you want is waiting.
Solutions
1. Solution orientation
Being solution oriented is about staying focused on the mission at all cost. This is because it takes so much to make your dreams a reality. You have to remember though that it is always worth it. This is your life and your purpose.
2. Mission oriented
You must be mission oriented in your life. You filter your decisions through your values. When you know who you are, it’s easy to make high quality decisions. Be patient and the solution will come.
3. Engage everyday
You must engage everyday. Focus on what matters and avoid distractions. Operate out of a clean slate, this will bring clarity, and clarity equals power. Always believe that it’s possible.
